Sowunmi Adedayo Adesola

Sowunmi Adedayo Adesola is an educator, counselor, and Educational Psychologist.  She had a National Certificate of Education in Biology/Geography at Tai Solarin College of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria, after which she pursued an undergraduate Degree in Guidance and Counselling at Olabisi Onabanjo University. Her passion for education and adequate skills to help her client self-solve their life challenges drove her to pursue a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology with an option in Educational Psychology at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. She has a certificate of practice from the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). She is a PhD student at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, in Educational Psychology.
She is a member of the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), a member of the Positive Psychology Association of Nigeria (POPAN), a member of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP), a member of the Young Foundation Line for Social Development (YFSD), and a member of the American Psychological Association (APA).
She as trained and given therapeutic sessions to teachers and learners in various psychological skills under the auspices of SO4I Education Consulting firm since 2005, taught as a graduate teacher and served as a counsellor under the Teaching Service Commission, Ogun State between 2009 and 2017, she is the serving digital counsellor for Ogun State Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DIPER) since 2022 till date. She employs a broad range of cognitive behavioral and insight-oriented psychological techniques in her psychotherapy and counseling sessions. 
Her area of research interest is adolescent behavioural challenges, which include aggressive behaviour, deviant behaviour, emotion regulation and dysregulation, addictions, criminal behaviour, substance use, depression, suicidal ideation, emotion dysregulation, etc, which could affect learning and hamper adolescents' mental health. She also has a passion in studying the most effective methods for teaching people with specific learning challenges like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, dyscalculia, or dyslexia
